On the Move (OTM) and PRACTICS, two major European key players in supporting the trans-border mobility of artists and cultural operators, organise a joint press conference in Budapest on May 19th at 10.30 a.m. to call for improved conditions for trans-border mobility of artists, culture operators and arts worldwide.
The press conference takes place the same day when EU Ministers of Culture meet in Brussels to adopt an EU recommendation on supporting information to mobile artists, asking EU Member States and the Commission to facilitate the provision of complete and accurate information to artists and culture professionals seeking to be mobile within the EU.
Following this joint press conference, OTM will hold in Budapest a seminar on culture mobility on 19th and 20th May, bringing together major European projects to share experiences on how to further improve and stimulate mobility for artists and operators. The seminar also aims to create useful synergies within the cultural sector for future joint mobility projects.
The Forum will take place in Strasbourg on Novembert, 27th 2010; the agenda includes a presentation of the Practics project by Kunstenloket.
TransForm is a series of 2-days France-Belgium professional trainings aimed at helping artists to orient themselves in the complicate administrative and legal scenario of the music sector in the two countries.
On December 13th and 14th the Vis-à-vis session in Kortrijk (Belgium) includes the Practics infopoint Kunstenloket among the speakers.
On November 16 and 17, 2010, the German visual artists representation Internationale Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste IGBK organises an experts’ workshop on social security for visual artists in Europe in Berlin. The workshop takes place in cooperation with the European Commission Representation in Germany and will discuss – from a visual artist point of view – questions of social security coordination in Europe. Given the new EU regulations and resulting operations the meeting will focus on experiences of mobile artists as well as questions of transparency and practicality. The workshop is supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, ‘on the move’ and ‘practics’. More information is available at the webpage www.igbk.de

With a rich programme of visits to artist workshops and exhibition spaces, the curators from China, New York, Ireland, Germany and Georgia travelled the length of the country to research and discover more about the unique visual arts scene in Wales. Part of Wales Arts International’s ongoing commitment to providing new opportunities for international development of the arts, it is hoped that this introduction to Wales’ visual arts scene will have inspired the visiting curators, and that connections made during the visit will result in new international opportunities for visual artists in Wales.

ArtLab hosted also the international workshop "Encouraging cross-border cultural mobility".The workshop was a good opportunity to present the Practics project to a selected and motivated audience of Italian artists and cultural operators, who showed their interest in the project. Representatives of the Regions and of the Ministries of Culture and of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting too. The lively and fruitful debate following the presentation provided useful information which will feed the mapping of the Italian situation of "mobility" (to be carried out by Fitzcarraldo within the project).
