    International Curators’ Visit to Wales

On May 19th 2010, Wales Arts International welcomed seven international curators to Wales for a tour of the country’s foremost contemporary visual arts galleries. The visit was scheduled to coincide with the re-opening of Oriel Mostyn in North Wales and the announcement of the winner of Artes Mundi 4 prize. With a rich programme of visits to artist workshops and exhibition spaces, the curators from China, New York, Ireland, Germany and Georgia travelled the length of the country to research and discover more about the unique visual arts scene in Wales. Part of Wales Arts International’s ongoing commitment to providing new opportunities for international development of the arts, it is hoped that this introduction to Wales’ visual arts scene will have inspired the visiting curators, and that connections made during the visit will result in new international opportunities for visual artists in Wales.

The European Association of Conservatoires publishes brochure on Higher Music Education

The developments of the music profession show that more and more graduates engage in portfolio careers and in mobility, which leads to an increasing need for recognition of qualifications. A new brochure has recently been published, which offers tools to make the recognition of qualifications in music easier. The AEC, the “Polifonia” Network and the project “Tuning Education Structures in Europe” have published a brochure with a set of reference points for the design and delivery of degree programmes in music. This publication includes the latest version of the “Polifonia/Dublin Descriptors” and the AEC/Polifonia Learning Outcomes, defining the levels of a 3-cycle structure in higher music education, as well as much additional information. The brochure in English (German and French translations are planned) can be found at www.bologna-and-music.org/learningoutcomes.
