EDITORIALPRACTICS... See Mobile See Practical! Are you an actor planning to perform in Spain? Are you a dancer interested in training in the Netherlands? Are you hoping to show your work at a gallery in Wales? Are you a curator wanting to bring collections from other EU countries to Belgium? International mobility has become so familiar that we don't even think about it as something special anymore. Nonetheless, being mobile is a constant challenge for cultural and artistic professionals even within the EU where national borders have been removed only to give way to administrative obstacles. PRACTICS tries to facilitate cross-border mobility by setting in place PRACTICS Infopoints. Four points are piloted during the course of the project and offer relevant information and practical support to artists, cultural workers, venues, companies, museums, galleries, orchestras etc. The piloting countries are Belgium, Spain, Wales and the Netherlands. UPCOMING EVENTSPRACTICS... for Italian Cultural WorkersFondazione Fitzcarraldo invites cultural workers from Italy to a workshop organised in the frame of its annual conference "ArtLab - Dialogues around cultural management" in Torino in September 2009. ArtLab is conceived as a two-day meeting (18-19.9.2009) with parallel seminars focusing on different issues (management, education, financing, fund-raising, networking, international mobility etc.). The PRACTICS workshop will take place on Saturday, 19th September and is conceived as an interview with the four pilot PRACTICS Infopoints looking at how they support cultural and artistic mobility in their countries. The event is open to cultural workers in Italy. PRACTICS... for Higher Music EducationPRACTICS initiates dialogue with staff within Higher Music Education during the upcoming Annual Meeting of International Relations Coordinators organised by the European Association of Conservatoires (AEC) in Bucharest, 11-12 September 2009. The meeting is intended for International Relations Coordinators within AEC member institutions who are responsible for coordinating incoming and outgoing staff and students through bilateral agreements or programmes such as ERASMUS. The event will include presentations on higher music education in Romania and the ERASMUS programme as well as a networking fair. The second day of the meeting will consist of a plenary session on the internationalisation of Higher Education followed by parallel workshop sessions. One of these workshops will focus on PRACTICS. This will be a 1.5 hour workshop consisting of a presentation of PRACTICS and a Q&A session with the International Relations Coordinators. The aim is to start a dialogue between PRACTICS and persons directly involved in the mobility of students and staff within Higher Music Education institutions. PRACTICS... IN PRACTICEPRACTICS... the ProjectPRACTICS is a 3-year project supported by the European Commission and started in December 2008. Its aim is to facilitate the provision of information about EU cross-border mobility in the cultural sector through the piloting of cultural mobility contact points called PRACTICS Infopoints. PRACTICS... UpdateThe first months of the projects were used intensively by the partners to develop the concept of the PRACTICS Infopoints. They identified the scope of the information that they should provide and how they should deliver their services. The coming months are used for research in specific information areas and for setting up strategic partnerships with relevant authorities, institutions and organisations. The fully operational PRACTICS Infopoints in Belgium, Spain, Wales and the Netherlands will be ready for your questions in November 2009. PRACTICS... One of FourPRACTICS is one of four projects selected in autumn 2008 under the call for "Networking of existing structures supporting mobility in the cultural sectors". The other projects are E-Mobility led by Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes (France), Changing Room led by Trans Europe Halles and co-organised by the Sibelius Academy (Finland) and Melkweg Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and SPACE led by ONDA (France).
