    Practics - makes culture move

    PRACTICS Newsletter Nr. 4 - APRIL 2010

    EDITORIAL

    Dear PRACTICS newsletter reader!

Many artists are nomads... questioning national identities and borders... their practice a land in motion.... Through PRACTICS they share their experiences and tell what mobility means to them. Read more about mobility and me!

PRACTICS started the year with an intensive collaborative process with the three pilot projects that were selected under the same strand: SPACE, Changing Room and e.Mobility. In January 2010 our four projects met in Paris to put together a list of recommendations on cultural mobility in the EU based on the experiences we have gained during the first year of our projects.

These recommendations were addressed and presented to the Open Method of Coordination and the European Commission on 15 March 2010.

At the same time our Infopoints are continuing their work. In Italy the mapping of mobility information needs and provision is well under way and in Finland it’s just starting.

Wishing you a Happy Easter and an energising spring!

    WHAT'S NEW

The European Association of Conservatoires published a brochure on Higher Music Education

The developments of the music profession show that more and more graduates engage in portfolio careers and in mobility, which leads to an increasing need for recognition of qualifications. A new brochure has recently been published, which offers tools to make the recognition of qualifications in music easier. The AEC, the “Polifonia” Network and the project “Tuning Education Structures in Europe” have published a brochure with a set of reference points for the design and delivery of degree programmes in music. This publication includes the latest version of the “Polifonia/Dublin Descriptors”  and the AEC/Polifonia Learning Outcomes, defining the levels of a 3-cycle structure in higher music education, as well as much additional information.

The brochure in English (German and French translations are planned) is available on line.

PRACTICS gains visibility on Spanish and European level

Interarts, the PRACTICS Infopoint Spain, has spread information on the project to several national and international cultural organisations in order to achieve more visibility for the project. As a result, various organisations responded to Interarts’ message, such as the Dance Professionals Association of Catalonia, Procura (Culture Professionals of Aragon) and ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts), and the presentation regarding the project was included in different newsletters, such as Infoculture (Spain) or ENCATC (European), among others.

The Government of Aragon, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Spain organized a 3rd Technical Conference on Performing Arts and Music that took place in Almozara Cultural Centre, Zaragoza, 2 to 4 March 2010. The Conference aimed to present the latest information on theatre, music and dance sector in the Aragon Autonomous Region and Spain for 2010, as well as to establish guidelines for future actions and inform on mobility funding opportunities in the European Union. In this regard, Interarts presented the objectives and services provided by PRACTICS.

    PRACTICS... IN PRACTICE

    PRACTICS... the Project

PRACTICS is a 3-year project supported by the European Commission and started in December 2008. Its aim is to facilitate the provision of information about EU cross-border mobility in the cultural sector through the piloting of cultural mobility contact points called PRACTICS Infopoints.

    PRACTICS... Update

The first months of the projects were used intensively by the partners to develop the concept of the PRACTICS Infopoints. They identified the scope of the information that they should provide and how they should deliver their services. The coming months are used for research in specific information areas and for setting up strategic partnerships with relevant authorities, institutions and organisations. The fully operational PRACTICS Infopoints in Belgium, Spain, Wales and the Netherlands will be ready for your questions in November 2009.

    PRACTICS... One of Four

PRACTICS is one of four projects selected in autumn 2008 under the call for "Networking of existing structures supporting mobility in the cultural sectors". The other projects are E-Mobility led by Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes (France), Changing Room led by Trans Europe Halles and co-organised by the Sibelius Academy (Finland) and Melkweg Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and SPACE led by ONDA (France).
