PRACTICS gets started... The launch of Infopoint Wales
Wales Arts International has received very positive feedback for the official launch of the Wales PRACTICS Infopoint at the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea on December 11th. Fifty key creative professionals from arts organisations around Wales were present to hear information about the project itself as well as presentations from three guest speakers who talked about their experiences and work in the field of artists mobility.
Alison Woods from NoFit State Circus talked about her experiences of organising tours for large productions with artists from all over the EU (and beyond!). She also provided advice and tips on a successful approach to mobility. Judith Staines, Arts Consultant and evaluator of PRACTICS, gave information on other mobility initiatives at EU level as well as a range of useful websites, contacts and networks for further information. Finally, Nadine Owen, British Council 'SPACE' programme, provided a short brief on the aims of SPACE, and also presented information on the other pilot mobility projects funded by the EU – e-mobility, Changing Room and PRACTICS.
WAI was also pleased to launch our new corporate brochure which includes an information sheet on PRACTICS which will be widely distributed to our partners in the cultural sector in Wales.
The European Association of Conservatoires publishes brochure on Higher Music Education
The developments of the music profession show that more and more graduates engage in portfolio careers and in mobility, which leads to an increasing need for recognition of qualifications. A new brochure has recently been published, which offers tools to make the recognition of qualifications in music easier. The AEC, the “Polifonia” Network and the project “Tuning Education Structures in Europe” have published a brochure with a set of reference points for the design and delivery of degree programmes in music. This publication includes the latest version of the “Polifonia/Dublin Descriptors” and the AEC/Polifonia Learning Outcomes, defining the levels of a 3-cycle structure in higher music education, as well as much additional information. The brochure in English (German and French translations are planned) can be found at www.bologna-and-music.org/learningoutcomes.

Launch of pilot Infopoints
The Infopoints that are developed in the framework of the PRACTICS project launched their information services on 15 May 2009. The pilot Infopoints provide information in those fields in which they already have expertise while developing their competencies to be fully operational by November 1st, 2009.
The Infopoints are piloted by Kunstenloket in Belgium, SICA in the Netherlands, the Arts Council of Wales / Wales Arts International in Wales and the Interarts Foundation in Spain. They are conceived as first entry-points for mobile cultural workers and offer advice and administrative support regarding cross-border mobility in the cultural sector.
Experts meeting - Mobility in the Visual Art Sector, Linz, Austria
The Internationale Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste (IGBK) will organise an experts' meeting on the topic "mobility in the visual arts sector in Europe". Atelierhaus Salzamt hosts the meeting, on December 10th-11th, 2009.

Pearle* general assembly meeting in Stockholm, Sweden
PRACTICS will be presented in the general assembly meeting of Pearle* in Stockholm on 11.-12. December 2009. Meeting is hosted by Swedish Performing Arts (Svensk Scenkonst).

Report from the meeting in Torino - Sept. 2009 by Fondazione Fitzcarraldo
The annual conference ArtLab, organized by Fondazione Fitzcarraldo in Torino on September 18th-19th, 2009 hosted the international workshop "Encouraging cross-border cultural mobility".
The workshop was a good opportunity to present the Practics project to a selected and motivated audience of Italian artists and cultural operators, who showed their interest in the project.
Representatives of the Regions and of the Ministries of Culture and of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting too. The lively and fruitful debate following the presentation provided useful information which will feed the mapping of the Italian situation of "mobility" (to be carried out by Fitzcarraldo within the project).
